RECEIVING YOUR CANDLE
The recommended cure time for soy wax is 1 to 2 weeks. All of our candles are made to order, so please ensure you wait 1 week minimum before lighting for the first time.
THE FIRST BURN
When you light your candle for the first time, make sure that the wax is melted evenly around the surface of the jar. This should be around 1-2 hours minimum - it will prevent tunnelling and ensure the life of the candle is pristine!
TRIM YOUR WICK
Always, always, always...and we mean always, trim your candle wick before you light it again. The wick should sit around 5mm when you burn it. By trimming the wick, you will avoid any unnecessary black soot that might dirty the glassware, and get the most burn time out of your candle.
Natural soy wax candles will not give you a scent as soon as you light it. There are many different waxes (EG: Paraffin, Beeswax, Palm) that will give you a throw straight away. Because of the purity of soy wax, the smell takes a little longer to emit. You should start to smell your fragrance around the 45 minute to 1 hour mark.
Whenever you burn any candle, always make sure you have it placed in a safe area away from plants, curtains or flammable items. To get the most out of your burn, don't sit the candle next to any open windows or drafts - this will effect the scent throw and the quality of the burn.
The maximum amount of time you should leave your candle burning is 4 hours. We don't recommend burning your candle any less than 1-2 hours, as it may cause an uneven burn and create tunnelling in the candle. Tunnelling will then create an uneven burn throughout the life span of the candle. We do recommend burning your candle when you have the time to let the full potential of the fragrance come through, and to obtain and even melt pool.
